Challenges - A Whole New Sims 2 Experience!

Accept as many Challenges as you like, then run the TSR Challenge Wizard to check your game at any time, automatically updating your TSR Challenge Profile with your progress. Completed Challenges will earn you Kudos, and will place you in our Challenge Hall of Fame. Your Challenge achievements will also be shown on your Profile Page.

There are over 400 different game Objectives which we can set and record, so as we build up our database you should find our Challenges to be unique and varied!

How do Challenges work?

When we create a Challenge you can view all of the details and Objectives before you choose to accept it. Each Challenge will give you the life story of a Sim (or family of Sims), and will provide you with a Sims2Pack file to download and install that family into your game.

You will see that each Challenge has a variety of Objectives which might include Career Tracks, Skills, Interests and a whole host of Achievements. At first, all of these Objectives will have a red background, indicating that you are yet to achieve this task. As Objectives are achieved in the game, the backgrounds change to green. Once a Challenge is complete, you will be rewarded with Kudos and your name will be included with the list of members who have completed the Challenge, as well as being added to our Challenge Hall of Fame!

Each Challenge will identify how difficult they are to achieve, and any Expansion Pack requirements to play. Challenges are designed so that it is very hard to 'fail', or to render a challenge impossible to win. Difficulty can just as easily be interpreted as time required to complete a Challenge.

How does the TSR Challenge Wizard work?

When you install our Challenge Wizard, a small application is put into Windows which, when run, will firstly access our Challenge Server to see which Challenges you have accepted. It will then scan your Sims 2 game files to see how you are progressing with achieving the Objectives. It then reports back to the Challenges Server with this information so that your TSR Challenge Profile can be updated, and your name can be included in the Hall of Fame.

The Challenge Wizard does not return any more info from your PC than the Challenge Data. Neither does it have any ability to alter any game files in any way as it is a 'read only' tool.

What about Cheats?

One thing we do understand here at TSR is that everyone plays The Sims 2 in their own way (and that is how it was designed). If you play your game using cheats then we are not about to tell you to change. If you wish to play these Challenges and cannot avoid the 'motherlode' temptation, then that's your choice. Play the game (and the Challenges) the way you want to, we just want you to have fun!

That said, we would encourage you to at least try to play Challenges without cheats so that you can experience the game with objective based play, rather than the 'sandbox' that you are used to. We are certain that you will find the whole Sims 2/TSR Challenge experience very rewarding this way!

Note: Some cheats that you may use in game (hacks and modifiers) or other tools (like SimPe) do not always register in the game code that an action or behaviour was carried out, so the Wizard might not report those objectives as completed even if they work in the game. The only way to truly achieve such objectives is to achieve them in game, without cheating. If you use cheats, please do not report bugs with the Challenges, as these will almost certainly be the cause.

Sounds great! How do I get started?

The easiest way to jump in is by accepting the Introduction Challenge. Once accepted, download the Sims2Pack file for that Challenge and run it to put the Objective Sim into your games 'Lots Bin'. Check out the objectives needed to win the Challenge, and load up the game and play 'Sonny Day', your target Challenge Sim.

After you have done this for the first time, you can run the Challenge Wizard to track your progress. You can see which objectives have been achieved both in the Wizard, and on the Challenge Web Pages, as they are updated whenever the Wizard checks your game files.

Once you achieve all four objectives of the Introductory Challenge it will drop down to the status of Completed. Your Profile Page will be updated, and your name will appear on the Challenges Top List.

So you're all set to accept some more Challenges and expand your game play horizons! If you like TSR's Challenges, tell your friends about them too!
