The New EA- LandI recently recieved an email for Maxis-Luc saying that The SIms Online was finally becoming free, and that they plan on making several new improvments to the game. Of course I was overjoyed about the idea because i used to be a paying member on The Sims Online until The Sims 2 came out. But anyways, I'm posting this because one of the places you can live on in the new "EA-Land" is called TSR, and I was wondering if it had anything to do with The Sims Resource?

That's interesting, because everyone seems to be on everytime I log on, unless you're talking about the actual TSR city. I might build a house there if I get enough simoleons.

Does this work ok with dial up or is it broadband only? I'm guessing you do need a good fast connection to play on line.

I used to play TSO on dial up. It's not as intensive a game as say World of Warcraft.

I am gonna have to download the install files at work though. 1.5 gigs is a bit heavy for dialup.

I joined this EA Land a couple of days ago in the Test Centre 3 part, because that is supposed to be free.
I thought at the time I could join the sims online for free as well but someone was saying that you can join for a trial period but then you have to pay a subscription. They said that the test centre is free all the time. I'm a bit confused by it all because I really believed that it all was free, but I don't think it is. Maybe someone can enlighten me, lol. |

As far as I know, there are 2 types of memberships -- free and subscription. There is no trial period for the free members, but there are some restrictions and limitations to teh free account. You can find out more about that at the official EA Land site: http://ea-land.ea.com/web/tutorial/f...fferences.html

Most of the restrictions for free members are lifted for Test Centre 3 (the non-beta one), including entering any lot type. I think the only one I've had so far is the inability to maintain more than 10 skill points (but I haven't been playing too much).

So wait, there's a free section, and a section you have to pay for? So much for being free....

Both sections are free. However, with EA-land the free players do have some restrictions on what they can do. If you log onto Test Center 3, though, you can play with no restrictions at all. You do start off with 0 simoleans, but you can visit skill houses and earn skill points, then visit money lots and earn money. Then after you build money you can look at purchasing your own lot. (Or you might roomie at an established lot.) I play in Test Center 3.

When you launch from the EA-Land icon (that's the new name for TSO) you will see an option to log into either EA-Land or Test Center 3.
