SSL Encryption
The Hartford uses security procedures designed to protect the information we obtain from you via this Web site against unauthorized access and alteration during its storage and use by us. On some pages, we also have implemented a security measure, called SSL encryption, that protects the information you submit to us through our e-mail service during its transmission.
While The Hartford is working to have the SSL security protection installed on all of its pages in the near future, please be aware that some pages on our site are not yet secure. If a page is not protected by SSL, it is possible for a third party to see the information you submit while it is in transit to us. Because of the nature of the Internet, The Hartford is not liable for any misuse by third parties of any electronically transmitted information.
The Hartford is committed to protecting your privacy and security. This site is protected by the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption and user authentication standard in certain areas. SSL utilizes data encryption to create a secure environment for you to conduct your on-line transactions. In order for SSL to be effective, you must be using an SSL compliant browser. (e.g. Netscape Navigator 3.0* or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher)
In Netscape you can determine whether encryption is active by looking at the padlock in the lower right-hand corner of the Netscape window. A closed padlock indicates that the document is encrypted, while a open padlock indicates that the document is not encrypted. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, a solid padlock will appear on the bottom right of the screen when encryption is in use.
The Hartford requires the use of an SSL compliant browser. If you are not using an SSL compliant browser, you will not be able to use our Quote-On-Line automobile insurance quoting application. However you can call us or send us an e-mail.
